چکیده

نوشتار حاضر، ترجمه مقاله آندریاس گورکه[1] درباره محدودیت­های مطالعه تاریخی سیره محمد(ص) است. [2] این مقاله در سال 2011 میلادی در جشن­نامه هارالد موتسکی[3] منتشر شد. گورکه در این مقاله، منابع اسلامی را باوجود تمام مشکلات و محدودیت­هایش، کماکان بهترین منبع برای بررسی زندگانی پیامبر(ص) می­داند. تکیه اصلی این مقاله مبتنی‌بر نحوه برخورد با این منابع و شیوه­های نقد آنهاست و بدین‌منظور چهار شیوه اصلی دراین‌باره شرح داده‌شده است.
